Piazzale Michelangelo

Stand on top of Florence: the magical Piazzale Michelangelo

Admire the best panoramic view of the whole city center (and beyond) and take pictures that look like perfect postcards. This square is dedicated to the Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti.

This is the best place to relax with the most breathtaking view of Florence. You'll find multiple spots for aperitivo time, from bars to simple kiosks and stands. The whole area is highly curated, from the streets to the bushes and trees, and full of nice green spaces. You can even visit the nearby Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte with its beautiful stairway.

Itinerary

Start: Arrive at Piazzale Michelangelo from Porta San Niccolò.

Explore the terrace: Look around you! From the Fontana Fiorita to the bronze copy of the David by Michelangelo and the Belvedere Franco Zeffirelli, everything around you is unbelievably pretty and photoworthy! Plus, if you like sports cars and unique experiences, there's often a red Ferrari in the parking area that's available to rent for a test drive.

Go downstairs: Discover another point of view in the lower part of the Piazzale. Look for the little pond and the map of Florence explaining what's in front of you.

Stop and enjoy the moment: Sit down on the huge stairway and enjoy the view and the magical atmosphere while listening to street musicians.
